Sesame seeds

Sesame seeds are rich in calcium. A cup of sesame seeds contains more calcium than a cup of milk! Sesame seeds contain substances which help lower cholesterol and prevent high blood pressure…not that most children suffer with these complaints but sesame seeds are a great food to include into their diet.

How can I incorporate sesame seeds into my childs diet?

  • Add a handful when making flapjacks
  • Buy breadsticks or breads which contain sesame seeds or add to the dough if making bread or muffins
  • Tahini is a spread which contains sesame seeds. Spread over toast and drizzle some honey
  • Sprinkle over noodles or stirfrys
